Domain Registration Policy

1. Who Holds What

• You are the registrant. The domain is registered in your name with your contact details, and you hold the rights to it.
• Namecheap is the registrar of record and holds the ICANN accreditation.
• LexLab is the reseller. We handle purchase, renewal, DNS, and support. We cannot override registry or registrar decisions.

This matters when something goes wrong. If Namecheap or the registry suspends, locks, or cancels a domain — for a UDRP decision, a WHOIS accuracy failure, a court order, or a policy breach — we cannot reverse it. We will pass on what we are told and help you deal with the registrar directly.

2. Registrant Rights and Responsibilities

ICANN publishes a summary of what registrants are entitled to and responsible for. Read it — it is short, and it is the clearest statement of what you actually own:

3. Accurate Contact Details

ICANN requires registrant contact data to be accurate and kept current. This is not a formality:

• Deliberately false or invalid contact details are grounds for cancelling a registration.
• You must respond to registrar verification emails. An unverified email address gets the domain suspended within 15 days of registration or of a contact change, and a suspended domain does not resolve.
• Update your details through your LexLab dashboard whenever they change.

4. Registration, Renewal, and Auto-Renew

• Registrations run for the term you purchase, from the date the registry confirms — not from the date you paid.
• Auto-renew is [PLACEHOLDER — confirm whether auto-renew is ON or OFF by default on new registrations] by default. You can change it per domain in your dashboard.
• We send renewal reminders to your account email at approximately [PLACEHOLDER — reminder schedule, e.g. 30, 14, and 3 days before expiry].
• Auto-renew charges your wallet balance. If the balance is short, the renewal fails and the domain moves toward expiry. Keep the balance funded.
• Renewal prices follow registry pricing and can change between terms. Promotional first-year prices do not carry over to renewal.

5. Expiry, Grace, and Redemption

A lapsed domain moves through fixed registry stages. The exact lengths vary by TLD, but the shape is always this:

Do not treat the grace period as a safety net. Mail stops flowing on day one of expiry, and by the time most people notice, the redemption fee already applies.

6. Transfers

• Transferring in. The domain must be unlocked at the losing registrar, more than 60 days past its registration or last transfer, and you need the authorisation code. A transfer adds a year to the registration.
• Transferring out. We will not block a legitimate transfer. Request an authorisation code from your dashboard or from support. We release it within [PLACEHOLDER — auth code release window, e.g. 5 calendar days].
• The 60-day locks. ICANN imposes a 60-day transfer lock after a new registration, after a transfer, and after a change of registrant contact details. We cannot waive these — they are registry-enforced.
• Transfer fees are not refundable, and a failed transfer does not refund.

7. DNS Management

You can manage DNS through your LexLab dashboard — we support Namecheap's nameservers and Cloudflare — or point the domain at nameservers of your own. DNS changes propagate on the TTL you set; we do not control resolver caches.

If you use the domain for email, you are responsible for keeping SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records correct, as required by the Acceptable Use Policy, Section 5.

8. WHOIS and Privacy

Registrant data is submitted to the registry as ICANN requires. WHOIS privacy, where the TLD permits it, replaces your public contact details with a proxy service. Privacy does not hide your identity from the registrar, the registry, ICANN, law enforcement, or a UDRP panel. Some TLDs and country-code registries do not allow it at all.

9. Refunds

Domain registrations, renewals, and transfers are not refundable. The registry charges at the moment of registration and does not reverse it. This includes typos in the domain name — check the spelling before you confirm, because nobody can undo it afterwards. See the Billing, Refunds & Cancellation Policy.

10. Disputes and Abuse

• Domain name disputes — someone claiming your domain infringes their trademark — go through ICANN's Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy. A UDRP decision binds the registrar and we must implement it.
• Abusive use of a domain — phishing, malware, spam — is reportable to support@lexlabtools.com and is handled under the Acceptable Use Policy. Registering a domain to impersonate another organisation is prohibited there, and we will suspend it.
• Complaints about us as a reseller can be escalated to Namecheap as registrar of record, and from there to ICANN.

11. Prohibited Registrations

You may not register domains through LexLab that impersonate another organisation, including typosquats and homoglyph variants of established brands, or that are intended for phishing or malware distribution. These are suspended on discovery, without refund.
